With the passage of the Macquarie Point Stadium Order through the Legislative Council today, the
Civil Contractors Federation Tasmania has called on the Government to now get on and build it.
“The Stadium Order has passed the Parliament, now let’s just get on and build it”, CCFTas CEO
Andrew Winch said.
“After three long years, the time for talking is over, and the time for building is now here.
“Our members are just champing at the bit to get to work on this exciting project, and we call on the
Government to get on with building the Stadium as soon as they possibly can.”
Mr Winch said that the Stadium would be a boom for businesses engaged in the civil contracting
sector.
“From enabling infrastructure such as pavement and asphalt, through to the supply of vital materials
such as concrete, our members are ready to go and we call on the Government to commence the
process so that we can get on and build it.
Mr Winch thanked both the Liberal and Labor Party’s for their steadfast support of the project, as
well as David O’Byrne and Carlo Di Falco in the Lower House, and Tanya Rattray, Casey Hiscutt, Bec
Thomas, and Dean Harriss for supporting the project through Parliament.
